Museum Provenance
The Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has an artist-in-residence program that allows young visitors to connect with creativity in practice. Our toys, games and accessories are fun and practical illustrations of the design standards represented in the museum's collection.
Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
It was a gift for our 5 year old grandson and he absolutely loves it.

My grandchildren will sit quietly to put this ball together and then break apart to reassemble. All ages of children - 3 years and up. The problem is sharing!!!

Comments about Ball of Whacks Magnetic Blocks:
This is a toy for kids of all ages. I'm 58 and enjoy fiddling with the thing. It's great fun for short periods at a time, but for me it never gets old. The way the magenet pieces snap together to form the sphere is crisp and fun to just take it apart and reassemble in its original form. Arranging the peices in different patterns is challenging and creative. This was a gift for our 19 year old son. I saw it in his hands a number of times before he returned to school, which means he liked it!
