Museum Provenance

Maintaining the Smithsonian’s eleven outdoor “living rooms” as a year-round botanic garden requires much record-keeping (as well as nurturing) by our Smithsonian Gardens staff.

Every Smithsonian purchase will arrive with a museum provenance card explaining how it is adapted from or inspired by an object or objects in our collection.
